What Is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that helps us to see the relationships between our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours. This approach explores and identifies underlying core beliefs, assumptions and expectations that inform how we interact with our worlds in our daily life.

Some underlying beliefs and expectations may have served you well at a point in life, but may not serve you well now. These cognitions can interfere with the decisions we make, can hold us back in life, and lead us away from living in line with our values. CBT helps us to deepen our awareness of these internal patterns of the mind, and make conscious and deliberate choices that are in our best interest. If you feel stuck in life, and you are struggling to see a way forward, I think this approach may be useful for you.
